City of Miami Beach 5th Annual Hurricane Information and Preparedness Fair
From: Lynn W. Bernstein, Community Outreach Coordinator, City of Miami Beach
The City of Miami Beach will be holding a series of Hurricane Fairs prior to the upcoming hurricane season that begins on June 1st.
The purpose of the events is to educate the community on how to prepare for hurricanes and what to do during and after the storms. City of Miami Beach internal departments and outside vendors participate in the events. We have the commitment to date of the American Red Cross, FEMA, Humane Society, Coast Guard, Miami Dade Transit and FPL. We have several invitations out and will be increasing participation. The CMB Media Relations office will be promoting the activities inviting residents and businesses to come out to gather the information that will be made available to them. It was suggested by the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association that we give Homeowners Associations the opportunity to participate in the events for the purpose of distributing information relevant to individual associations in seeking to increase awareness and membership of the organizations. We will provide table space and a chair.
The schedule of the Hurricane Fairs is as follows;
Sunday, May 7,, 2006 – 1000 block Lincoln Road – 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 13, 2006 – North Shore Farmers Market at Normandy Fountain – 9 a.m. - noon
Saturday, May 20, 2006 – RDA Miami Beach Police Department Satellite Station, 210 2nd Street – 9:00 a.m. to noon
